In addition, there are certain signs that always warrant emergency treatment:

  • Vomiting or diarrhea for over 24 hours
  • Bleeding
  • Ingestion of rat poison, chocolate, or other toxic substance
  • Difficult or labored breathing
  • Trauma, such as being hit by a car or laceration
  • Lethargy or unusual restlessness
  • Seizure activity
  • Difficulty urinating, bloody urine, or inability to urinate
  • Difficult or unusual movement
