Seeing your beloved companion in pain or distress is troubling, and it can be tough to decide what situations require urgent care. You know your pet better than anyone, though, so if you feel that they need urgent care, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and come in. In addition, there are certain signs that always warrant emergency treatment:
- Vomiting or diarrhea for over 24 hours
- Bleeding
- Ingestion of rat poison, chocolate, or other toxic substance
- Difficult or labored breathing
- Trauma, such as being hit by a car or laceration
- Lethargy or unusual restlessness
- Seizure activity
- Difficulty urinating, bloody urine, or inability to urinate
- Difficult or unusual movement
